Two Month Post-Wedding Update
6:27:00 PMWe are nearly two months into our marriage and it has been an amazing. Honestly, it has been way better than I expected it to be. And I had high expectations.
Everyone warned us that the first months of marriage are very difficult, but we've found the transition to be rather smooth. I think it helped that we worked out so many of the adjustments when we moved to San Diego together in January. We didn't have to spend our first two months of marriage organizing closets, sorting out responsibilities and developing a routine.
What has changed?
1. Well, first, I gained 3 lbs. Woohoo! But honestly, I'm okay with it. I worked out so hard before the wedding, so for the past two months I've cut myself some slack. I'm enjoying ice cream, cookies, pizza, and my own creation that I call "Brownie Batter Fudge" (recipe to follow soon).

2. I've been cooking a LOT more for my husband now than I did before the wedding. I think it's because I'm not as worried about being judged when I experiment in the kitchen. I know he'll like it because his wife made it for him with love. Check out my recipe for 4-Step Protein Packed Breakfast Burritos here.
3. We turned a combined two years older. Wes turned 28 on July 22nd and I turned 26 on August 28th. Wes says that "he is much too young to feel this old," but I think 28 looks pretty hot on him. I'm looking forward to this next year... time to start researching an anti-aging skincare regime.
4. We are planning financially as a team for some big future events.... medical school, kids, college savings, a house, etc. We both entered marriage with our own individual investment strategies, but now we're strategizing together.
5. Wes sold his motorcycle (disclaimer: it wasn't my idea). He had been thinking about selling it for about 2-3 months before our wedding, but we were waiting to get an offer for the right price on Craigslist/eBay instead of selling it to a dealer. It finally sold right after the wedding. I have a feeling he might get another one someday.
6. I started my side business, Community Canine Care. Check it out here!

What is on the horizon?
We have planned a lot of newlywed travel! So far we have booked Maui for 6 days in September, a long weekend in Virginia in October, Cabo for 9 days in November, and Minnesota for 10 days in December. So excited! Tip: We got this great Citi credit card that gives you any 4th night at a hotel for free. No annual fee if you're military!
The next couple of years will have lots of moving pieces, but we'll be sure to be blogging about the updates along the way. P.S. Stay tuned for Wes's next blog post this week!
Love,
Mrs. Dylan Jahraus
