We're Moving!
2:43:00 AMWell, kind of. We're moving down the street to a different apartment. Why? We've lived in our current 2 bed x 2.5 bath town home apartment for about 8 months now and it's pretty safe to say that we don't use the second bedroom or bathroom. The extra space is nice, sure! It became my Etsy crafting space, bursting with fake flowers and baby mobiles. Necessary? That's debatable.
The real push to make this move was when we toured the brand new building that our current complex just built. The building opened in July and let's just say that we were WOW-ed. After the tour we analyzed the numbers (to death) and boom, we're transferring! We will be in a 1 bed x 1 bath, but it's the same square footage as our current 2 bed x 2.5 bath. Huge bathroom... double vanity.... wood floors throughout.... and walk in closet that's 3x the size our current closet. Basically everything is more open, brighter, and more spacious. I haven't even gotten to the best part... the kitchen! Our current kitchen has ZERO storage, like only four cabinets. However, this kitchen was a full blown open-concept, Joanna-Gaines-style kitchen. Ladies, you know what I mean. We were able to lock our new apartment in for another 12-14 months, so now we won't have to stress about apartment-hunting or signing a lease around Christmastime.
So many people say "I hate moving" but I actually really enjoy it. Why?
1. It's an amazing workout. And I get to see my hot husband pick up heavy objects. Yum.
2. It's a great excuse to go through things and clear the clutter. Um, how did we get 15 pillows?
3. I love finding resourceful packing techniques. Yes, my bikinis are currently stuffed into my husband's hiking boots.
4. You strengthen the bond with your partner when you're in a time of nonstop decision-making and compromising. Which mattress should we donate? Where will we put the shop vac? What is our budget? Can we go get ice cream cones? Decisions, decisions.
5. It feels like a new chapter and a fresh start as a married couple... so perfect as the seasons change, as career plans move forward, and as we look ahead to what God has in store for us.

We have the next 4 days to pack, we start moving on Thursday, and we'll be settled in by next Monday, just in time for us to jet set off to Williamsburg, VA for the William & Mary Homecoming. What a crazy couple of weeks, but we wouldn't have it any other way!
Love,
Mrs. Dylan Jahraus
